Dr. Kim Bergeron
Dr. Bergeron is a community-based researcher who collaborates with many disciplines (e.g., nurses, geographers, planners, social workers, rehabilitation therapists) to increase the quality of life for older adults living in Canada. Her research and teaching on aging and health focuses on creating a more equitable, inclusive society where ageism is eliminated, and healthy aging programs are available. Dr. Bergeron is the lead investigator for this research study to develop and implement a home share program that promotes intergenerational living between college students and older adults. She also a Faculty Member of the Trent Centre for Aging and Society and teaches in the Aging and Health graduate program at Queen’s University.
Lori LaMorre-Slatter
Lori is a Registered Social Service Worker and is the Program Coordinator the Social Service Worker (SSW) program at Loyalist College. In her role as Home Share Project Coordinator, Lori provides mentorship and monitoring of students and brings to this project her extensive connection to the community. In addition, Lori has an extensive career in the front line in the human services field. As Home Share Project Coordinator, Lori utilizes her skills in delivering human services to increase the learning and application of the students involved in administering the Home Share program. This includes guiding the practicum students involved in this project to develop case management, counselling and inclusive relationship building skills.
Rachael Ferrante
Rachael is a graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Loyalist and is currently working towards her BSW and BA in Disability Studies through the University of Windsor. She has extensive knowledge of the older adult community as she spent most of her career forming connections through her role as a community based personal support worker. Rachael’s role as the Home Share Loyalist Program Coordinator is to monitor communication from interested parties and the public, establish connections through careful review of applications, aide in the learning outcomes of the placement students within the program and help to facilitate meetings between chosen parties. She will use her knowledge of the community and the tools and skills she has developed throughout her educational career to help ensure a positive, life changing experience for everyone involved in the home share community.
Cher Powers
Cher is an experienced professional with expertise in project management, program creation, government relations, technology transfer, and establishing operational efficiencies. She has a degree in Global Development Studies (Queen’s University) and a Chemical Engineering Technician Diploma (Loyalist College). Currently Cher is the Research Coordinator for the Applied Research and Innovation Department and part-time faculty within the School of Media, Business and Access at Loyalist College.
